The nighttime shot is a good idea as is the B&W. Sparkler could be cropped to minimize the competition with the other subject.

This photo is absolutely stunning. The colors and saturation are wonderful. Also, I really like the composition of the shot, with the island just off to the left of the sunset.

I think many of the low votes were due to the challenge topic - most people were looking for a more classic representation of "still life." This is, however, a very nice landscape.

I hope to keep seeing more of your work in future challenges!

When you're photographing scenery, everything's gotta be serene. When you're photographing sunrises, everything's REALLY gotta be serene. What's with all the waves and debris in the foreground? More effort and patience on your part means better results in the darkroom (or in photoshop).

Sorry about the comment yesterday, had a bad day. I like the image, nice symetry, exposure, use of color, etc. But as nice as it is, it's not a still life. Would make a nice landscape or lighting entry but not still life.

Does not meet the challenge. A still life is a picture of an object or group of objects arranged to communicate ideas of color, form, tone, texture and composition. Still lifes are inanimate.
