People never learn...by MaartenvanastComment by SoulJance: interesting subject matter I think that you should would work better in a collection of shots then a stand alone image. I don't think that the composition is there to make it a strong mono image and it looks like you were shooting in rather bright light, making it hard to expose the shot correctly. |

People never learn...by MaartenvanastComment by dizus: and sadly they never will.. Although the message is good, I'm not liking the picture as much as I want to. It's not messy enough to be messy and obviously it's not neat. The black and white processing also isn't spot on, I think the bag is too bright and the can too dark. Good idea though :) |

Home after three weeks of touring..by MaartenvanastComment by Maartenvanast: Originally posted by muur88:
Unfortunately, only one of the comments actually had to do with the technicals of the photo. This will always be the problem with the site in that it focuses too much on parameters. Based on your details I can see why only 1 comment was useful. For me, compositionally the guitar strap connector is kind of annoying. I like the gritty nature of the photo, it feels road weary, but I think it might have been more interesting if you tried to incorporate more of the environment to help solidify the tour concept or the returning home concept. And sports being pastimes and a band being a team isn't really that much of a stretch for someone with an ounce of creativity to make, so it is even more ridiculous that people would feel the need to focus on what this photo isn't about. Unfortunately that is the governing mindset here. How'd the tour go? |
I agree with you. The fact that I only found 1 comment to be useful indeed has to do with the technical aspect of it. Comments don't need to be all positive to be ranked useful by me, but I can't do anything with a comment about why this is not sports. I thought maybe people could see beyond the typical idea of sports, but I guess not :). No problem, I've probably weren't supposed to think people would see the picture the same as I do. Anyway, I do appreciate your thoughts about the picture and the ways this could have been improved. Always good help for following challenges.
The tour was truly awesome! Thnx for asking. It is definitely something I could do all the time. Who knows, maybe some day :). Message edited by author 2010-05-14 18:00:52. |
