First Impressions:
My first impression - honestly was just a blank stare - much the same as the expression on your subject. I've worked with cattle and I know how hard it is to get them smile so don't take that the wrong way. ;-)
Technical (Comp, lighting, color, focus):
OK, so your on a dairy farm, I understand that you can't hardly go around moving stuff outta the way but there are several distrating elements here....the wheelbarrow, the chair, the rake....perhaps a more shallow dof so those things were blurred
the lighting seems to be ok and your focus is clear but I think you could have adjusted the exposure & the contrast some to make a more appealing photo
also wondering if you tried this at all in sepia?
Challenge:
You met the challenge pretty much head on now didn't you? ;-)
Artistic/Emotion:
As she stands there; there isn't much artistry going on in the photo. Perhaps a differnt angle would put more of an artsy spin on it....from the feet up perhaps, or closer on her face, or one with the spray nozzel at her feet.
Not many folks would try to pull off a skinny dairy cow as an entry so I tip my hat to you on the effort. (I understand that skinny dairy cows are more often than not the norm - others may not and so they don't find this appealing) The emotion it pulls from me is one of dread; but I worked on a dairy farm once and didn't enjoy it. I think from the comments the emotion was one of sympathy, maybe even quite upsetting to some folks.
Summary:
Basically what we have here is a picture of a cow. Nothing more, nothing less. I've looked through portfolio and I can see that you have an eye for different angles; I wish you'd brought that to this photo.
I look forward to seeing entries more from you!
