The lighting is very hard and flat. Try moving the flash off the camera and put some sort of modifier in front of it and it will dramatically improve the photo.

I don't want to sound overly critical, but it seems like you almost treated this challenge as a scavenger hunt, rather than a photo competition. Finding one is part of the challenge, of course, but nailing it photographically is the key. The phone booth isn't even in focus... the background is. Once you find a subject for a challenge entry, try viewing from different angles to make it visually interesting, and then be sure to nail the technical aspects of it.
