Yeah, that's a pretty cool happy place. But now that you've showed it you're going to have to share it.

very nice image, although i feel crowed when I look at the photo. I think that is just the over all feeling I get. Could be different for someone else :). I really like contrasts between the greens and reds.

Comment by headwes:
The saddle is at 11,700 feet, IIRC. Last time I was there, at this very spot, I had the worst AMS I've ever had, and saw the highest altitude helicopter evacuation I've ever personally witnessed (okay, sample of three, but even so, it was a nailbiter.) Oh, and on the way down the remnants of hurrican Xaiver rolled through.

Yeah, that sign brings back some memories.

That being said, I didn't find the mountain itself especially photogenic, so I think you were wise to focus on the sign and the clouds. The harsh mid-day sun at these high altitudes lends itself to excessive contrast, as seen in the edges of the sign, but overall you've done a wonderful job of composing to limit this effect.

looks like Utah!
for a landscape shot, I generally feel that the viewer should have a longer line of sight - there should be objects visible in the distance visible. landscapes should not have a "closed in" feeling - they should be open and expansive.

the slow shutter speed is nice, the soft water always adds to a picture, the color is good but the shot is a little close, all bunche in a frame, if this were wider it would be much better, still a good shot.

A great concept that didn't quite pull it off.The large size of the flower dwarfs the moth.
