I like your choice of interpretations for this challenge... The only thing that is bothering me about this photo is the background... I'm not sure that the sheet or drapes are offering the right amount of visual impact for this shot... still scores an 8... good job!

the drop cloth behind is quite obvious. I feel that the main problem with this photo tho is the fact that there is a large space between the two points of interest. This is emphasized by the line of the checkerboard. I think if you'd moved the front bear closer to the other two, you would have a more striking image, and perhaps have gotten a bit more detail from the bear at the back (it seems almost like a silhouette at the moment). Minor point, assuming that this is supposed to be a version of draughts/checkers, shouldn't the 'pieces' be on the same coloured squares?
