..the lighting looks like a harsh flash....that outdoor flood light to the right of you're pic would be a great way to light this. Shoot something at night with the flood only and see how much better quality you get.

Tough shot, black dog, white bone, outdoor lighting! Dog is perfect, but bone is overexposed. Hard to shoot dogs, I know firsthand, and this composition is good but could be better. If you were going to cut his hind anyway, it would have been better if it were in the upper right corner, and then his bottom foot were there (basically, his lines would be the diagonal.
