Self Portraitby agrimaceComment by Skip: i don't know anything about portraiture, so i'm using your image to try to figure out what i think i would or wouldn't do in this situation, as well as what i notice and get out of your image.
wow! this is an amazing image. the lighting so perfectly brings out the intensity and inquisitiveness in your eyes, and the range of tonalities bring out your character. you have truly captured the essence of the individual. 8 from me. |

Self Portraitby agrimaceComment by cbeller: I like the B&W. one nit pick, it looks like the focus is the tip of the nose, rather than your eyes. good luck |

Pepto Pinkby agrimaceComment by coolhar: greater depth of field, so that more or all of the subject was in focus, would have improved this shot |

wwii-s.jpgby agrimaceComment by wkmen: Ideally, I think this would look better with the centerline of the Washington Monument in a straight vertical, and also if the states' columns at the WWII had their sides parallel to the edges of the photo. That would have required you to use not such a wide-angle to prevent the convergence, I think. The states' columns could use a boost of lightening to bring them to center of attention. And the flagpole would be better between a pair of columns. |
