The Simplest of Machinesby MaestroGeek1Comment by sabphoto: actually the simplest would probably be the screwdriver but I like your idea here. would have liked to see less of the right side crop, or maybe a lot more cropped down to the bolt. Good luck |

The Simplest of Machinesby MaestroGeek1Comment by taterbug: A good idea. Nice subject and fits the challenge well. Compositionally, I don't like how the handles are cut off. Should show the whole thing or cut off for purpose. Also I think a use of the rule of thirds would help stronger utilize the negative space and balance the photo out. Lighting is not bad, but IMO, might be better either using a fill to eliminate the shadows, or else make them more dramatic and adding to the shot. |

The Simplest of Machinesby MaestroGeek1Comment by Bear_Music: The framing on this makes no sense to me, all that empty space doing nothing dynamic or informational... The crop onto the handles hurts. the light seems unflattering. The background feels muddy. |

Fire Goddessby MaestroGeek1Comment by TooCool: Interesting and original take on challenge. I see a couple of issues. First is your focus is quite soft. I'm not sure if you were trying for that effect or what camera you have. I know I sometimes have a hard time with my P&S camera in darker conditions trying to get a good focus. Your colors seem a little off. THis may be a white balance issue. Again, depending on your camera this may or may not be easy to fix. Also, your colors seem to be a little flat. I would first say that a lot of light would help this issue, but would defeat the purpose of the shot. Playing around with levels in PS can help also. Nice composition and framing. Keep trying the tough shots!
