Good light, finally - so many people seem to think its enough to just get a shot of an animal, with no thought to other elements of the scene. Not sure about the moment you've chosen though - mother seems more interested in food than her offspring, and the crossing of the two seems a little awkward, compositionally.

This definitely comes across as a springtime shot. The mix of white fence, green grass, and tan horses compliment each other well. The detail and exposure of the horses are good. The composition is good, although I'd be tempted to try a different crop - a little off the right side to get rid of the black pole and the top until the gap above the fence is gone, and the faded line at the bottom - which I think would center in on the horses more.

Beautiful shot - try increasing the contrast (maybe play with curves) a little. Just seems a little washed out. May need to check the calibration on your monitor.
