very clever idea, lovely colours. Would have liked to have seen more focus on the ring, gets a bit lost in the shadows of the trap.

Comment by MrAkamai:
Good attempt but there doesn't seem to be a single point of sharp focus. OK, maybe the lettering on the gray plastic card on the right but I doubt that is the main subject. Lighting is also very bright and harsh.

Your text is really pixelated, and highly distracting, but I like the photo, and the name.

Comment by Olyuzi:
I like the title and the white lettering. Image gives somewhat of eerie feeling with the harsh lighting. The three tombstones also seem to contribute to this and seem to convey some sort of meaning. Ordinarily, I would say that technically the too well defined shadow that goes accross the image and subject (tombstones) would be a detraction, but in this case, I think it's appropriate and also adds to the general feeling of today's groups. Didn't like this when I first saw it, but after looking at it for a while I think it's a good effort.

Pretty cool. I really like the shiny surface and the reflections. Is is just a glossy desk surface, or a mirror?

Comment by Maverick:
As a graveyard shot, I think black and white would better suit this. The bright blue skies don't fit the theme. Compositionally, I think this could also be improved, maybe by getting closer in on the graves or using a wider aperture to throw the background out of focus.

Hello Charles from the Critique club

After seeing your list of comments I feel very technically unqualified
But I will try to give you my honest opinion for what it's worth.
You certainly made an effort to achieve this image points to your wife also LOL!

This is a very good idea and well executed and definately meets the challenge but for some reason it lacks 'spark' I think it may be the lighting, also the negative space above has a very grey sort of washed out look. I think if this had been done on a dark background (Maybe dark green, as in the bank note or black) your image would have stood out more and bought more tone to the image The knife also looks dull not because of the focus but because of the light factor
Maybe its the time of day that you shot this image
But to me, that is the only thing I can see that may help you in future with this type of image. It has to be Striking 'WOW' to win the voters of D P C over and it can be so frustrating when you have tried so hard
Believe me I know from experience
So good luck with your future challenges
I hope this helps and if you have any questions please P M me
Regards
Sally
