Christmas Flight Homeby spidermanComment by Kavey: Critique Club
Initial thoughts
Great capture of lights in the night – quite interesting subject matter.
Composition/ Content
The position of the tower at the left is balanced by the arches at the right. I like the diagonal lines of the flight taking off – kind of surreal that only the lights and not the craft are capturedâ€Â¦ It feels a little top heavy on the dark area of sky but not hugely so. Point of focus for me is the pair of diagonal lines.
Background
Most of the interest is definitely in the foreground, as intended. I like that I can just make out the hills behind.
Camera Work - Technical
Well exposed. No faults that I can see!
Digital Processing - Technical
Seems fine to me!
Fits The Challenge
Most definitely.
Your Opinion On The Photo
One that grew on me as I viewed it second and third times. The content doesn̢۪t have a great impact for me but what is there has certainly been composed and captured well.

Broby spidermanComment by spiderman: oversharpened on purpose to enhance the narrow DOF, i like the 'bizarre' appearance of my bizarre little brother - i got a 2-out-of-6 agreement with that assessment in the comments, so i suppose a lowest 1/3 showing is to be expected - anywho, the bottom line for me is that HE liked it |

Christmas Flight Homeby spidermanComment by spiderman: Xmas night from a hill in El Segundo, overlooking LAX - took quite a few snaps & elapse - looks like i picked the right one --- the color of the restaurant arches cycle thru a variety of colors, just like the new 'mini-towers' that mark the entrance to the airport - purple would have looked good, too --- if i had a location with the right view, i could have shot the landing pattern with at least 9 planes ... |
