Red Hot Chanukahby maxjComment by bod: This is great.
True, 'overprocessed' stuff never does well in the challenges, but I'm always glad to see the more experimental stuff. Just don't enter it to get a high score : )
The processing is cool and the composition is great (the lines and shapes of the candles especially). Keep it coming! |

: )by maxjComment by Skip: ok, max, i know this is a tough lesson, but i also know you can take it. one of the key things to learn here is the difference between a 'portfolio' shot and a 'challenge' shot. save this stuff for your portfolio...it is Great! but don't do this for challenges...you see what happens.
check out shannon calvert's thread about the recipe for ribbonning. you have definitely got an eye and a sense of humor. if you get it under control, you could easily add 2 pts to your scores. it's not automatic, but you can do it if you apply yourself! go for it! |

Red Hot Chanukahby maxjComment by Skip: nice entry, max, sorry it didn't finish higher. it got a 7 from me. i think you might have been voted down for over-processing. while pleasing to some (i like it, neil liked it), most voters want the vivid colors to also include razor sharp photographic detail (for example check out the ebeneezer corkscrooged entry in hidden faces. i know that will be a top 10, and wouldn't be surprized if it doesn't blue.) all the same, keep shooting! good luck!

Fall on a Farmby maxjComment by scrum8: Beautiful landscape. I might have cropped higher or lower to put the horizon at the 1/3 line (rule of thirds). Well done. |

Another Timeby maxjComment by scrum8: I like the selective desaturation. It makes the axle and wheels pop out. |
