Avian Reflectionsby maxjComment by macrothing: 6 - Good catch. Criticism; I have to assume you didn't have that full reflection to work with or else you would have included it - that's the way it goes with opportunity shots. Of course 'if only' that fore wing were in better focus, but that is also camera/lens dependent. Like the colors, and while it seems a bit dark at this size, I am sure that larger yields a lot more detail and 'contrast'/effect. Even without that full reflection, perhaps just a bit more 'space' above the bird (again depending what you had), may have made this better in my opinion. |

Avian Reflectionsby maxjComment by elee3009: The composition is very interesting. Makes it stand out. Just wished the details in the bird a bit brighter to better appreciate it. As is the black background is very overpowering. |

Impendingby maxjComment by tpoc: The colors in this photo are really stunning. Magnificent sky capture. Because the sky is so foreboding, and going along with your title, I would like to see less grass and more sky. I would also like to see the house be smaller so that the viewer really gets the feeling of "oh crap, here we are in this lonely house and the sky's about to raise holy heck on us!"

bubblesbrighter.jpgby maxjComment by tpoc: This is the first image that really caught my eye. Like the composition very much, I agree with the previous commenter about cropping the bright side of the tree out. I love your model's pose, but with a slightly different front hand placement to reduce emphasis (perhaps resting upon the knee instead...) Your DOF is good, and the hat adds a lot of visual interest...can't quite see the model's face and it keeps you looking. Love how the model is blowing bubbles like chewing on a blade of grass.

Men On Rocksby maxjComment by maxj: Originally posted by mandyturner: this has great contrast! Love the panoramic style cropping. I just wish they were doing something specific. |
the men are fishing, that little white blob on the rock is fishing wire all bundled up. the fishing wire is much more visible on the full version, but yes, most of the clarity was lost when I chose to do this image with a higher contrast. |
