shooting1.jpgby Travis99Comment by Discraft: The colors are really nice and the DOF is just perfect. I really like the bullet coming out of the gun. Very good capture. |

Shattered Ideaby Travis99Comment by deapee: Greetings from the Critique Club...
Your composition is great. You captured enough of everything that the viewer knows exactly what is going on and doesn't have to look around the image to find an area of interest.
The lighting seems a bit dark for my taste, personally. It doesn't look like a flash was used here, but a soft one might have helped. The lighting that was used seems to put some reflections on the bulb which are a little bit distracting, but not too much.
The focus throughout seems a bit soft but that's probably due to the high ISO -- which could be fixed with more light and a faster shutter speed.
Overall, it's a great capture, and I'm sure it took a long time to set up. keep shooting! |

Simply Classyby Travis99Comment by ahaze: Very pretty- I love the vintage coloration on this. I wish the bow was in sharp focus. It'd be nice to see this without the border. |

Simply Classyby Travis99Comment by BigSmiles: If this picture were in focus I'd give it a 10. I love the feel of it and the muted colours and the glowing lights from within. But it's really out of focus and it's a shame because it really is nice. |

Old Barnby Travis99Comment by 1lehoward: You should just go the rest of the way and alter the grass colour to something quirky... say pink?
How do you like your D70? What did you trade up from? I have
a Dimage 7 (Minolta) with what I thought was a wonderful 28-200 mm
equivalent lens and now, I feel that it is giving me soft images. What
I've seen of the 18-70 mm D70 sample pix also look soft.
What do you think? |

Picture 1161.jpgby Travis99Comment by Arcanist: I have one last trick for you on this one. Although I really like it this way, and you may too, here is another PS chop that may put a final touch on the result. This one is tricky, cuz there are so many variables to something that 'sharpens' the image.
The Unsharp Mask (a Filter that actually sharpens) can be used to drive a very noticable contrast boost and also seems to 'unhaze' digital pics.
Choose Filter - Sharpen - Unsharp Mask.
Select a sharpen value somewhere in the 10-40% range.
Select a radius from 50 - 200 pixels.
Select a threshold/layers/channels of 0.
Play with this just to get a feel for what it does. Sometime too much is too easy to do, less radius and less sharp often work in conjuction.
Have fun with this one ;-) |

Shattered Ideaby Travis99Comment by e301: great timinig, and prettty good execution of the shot. I think your processing could use work at leaast in dpc terms - the body of the lamp could be cleaner, and possibly brughter for impact, and the background could be taken to black quite easily. |
