Hey, you've been in my garden?? Quite a load you've got there and therefor I think it's a bit crowded. Maybe if you'd blurred the background a bit more, he would stand out more.

Comment by Zed Pobre:
Blown highlights glare harshly at the right and at the bottom. Try using spot metering, and underexpose the image (or better, until you get a feel for it, bracket exposures by taking several shots with different settings).

Not enough draws the eye to the main apple in the center, and the reflected light on it doesn't help the image. While the placement of it on a golden point is good basic composition, I might have chosen the lower left instead of the upper left to give more of a sense of "low hanging fruit". That's a minor artistic quibble, though, and could go either way.

I think this is from resizing, but even the central apple looks slightly soft to me. Try running a very, very slight resharpening on the image after resizing to compensate.

Base: 5
Technical: -2
Interest: -1
Emotion: +0
Bias: +0

Total: 2

Don't be too disheartened by the low score. If you keep practicing, it doesn't take very long before the technical errors stop happening, then you just get stuck around 5 for a while while you figure out what kind of subjects the DPC crowd actually likes. :)

Comment by Titia:
Too much sun for my taste at the right. I should've cropped it out and then the photo would've been much stronger. Well, that't my humble opinion.
Nice catch though.
