This would be kind of cooler if you colored the people and were a little closer.

Effectively framed. The tiny smokestacks threaten to overtake the huge expanse of sky with their exhalations...

Oh sweet minimalism!
I'd like to see a bit more detail in the facility through the use of some HDR maybe BW, but I still like this. You'll probably get killed in voting, but who cares.

nice capture, perhaps a less centered crop would have done it more justice.

Reminds me of a man I saw in an apothecary in Sturbridge Village Mass. Somehow the minimal works with the natural light and less than dramatic exposure, fitting for the harsh olden times...

Voted earlier coming back to comment.

I really like these 'environmental' portraits where it gives you a sense of the person by either character or where they work/play. Very clearly from the backdrop this woman is a healer and the period of dress is from days long past (pioneer days methinks). The lighting and details you captured are splendid. I do have one little critique that I feel would make the composition even stronger. I think it would have been better if you zoomed up a bit more to eliminate the bottom 20% just about where one can see that paper. Zooming up closer would have a twofold effect on the composition. First, the the backdrop of the medicine bottles would fill the scene without any distracting elements; it would further compliment the healer in her environment. Second you would bring your audience closer to the personality, showing off more details about her by getting up into the greeting distance.
