Chillin in Romeby sammy_stecchinoComment by Catbird: Rome, boring? I loved it! If she'd turn around and look at that gorgeos cityscape behind her, she might not be so bored.
One thing I see about this photograph is the fact that she's slooking off the the edge of the frame, which draws the viewr's eyes off the frame, also. If she were looking to the left, our eyes would stay in the frame and looking at the picture longer. |

Escaping Soulby sammy_stecchinoComment by sammy_stecchino: Originally posted by macronaut: Over-tweaked image. This appears to violate the Basic Editing rule: I quote:
"Filters: The use of filters (or non-Photoshop equivalent) is strictly limited. Any filter or stand-alone utility designed and used to preserve the integrity of the image and/or reduce the effects of noise, scratches, etc, are permitted. These include but are not limited to the Sharpen, Unsharp Mask, and Dust & Scratches filters, and standalone image cleanup utilities such as NeatImage. However, no effects filters may be applied to your image, with the exception of Noise and Gaussian Blur, which are allowed. Any filter permitted by this rule must be applied uniformly to the entire image. Selective application of any filter is prohibited." |
Point #1: Not over tweaked. Point #2: Doesn't violate the rules. Editing rules, and I quote:
"Any modification done inside the digital camera itself is considered acceptable for challenge submission."
"Post-shot Adjustments may be made to your image in a photo editing program, so long as the modification is applied to the whole image. This includes levels, conversion to black and white, hue/saturation, sizing/rotating, curves and cropping [...]."
The effect you see is solarization, done IN camera (and a surrealist technique). Shadows were red, so I adjusted the red level to turn it black and slightly adjusted green curves. All this is legal OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE BEEN DQ-ed!! So, essentially what I'm saying is you are wrong. Message edited by author 2005-03-16 07:50:35. |
