Great. I'm distracted by the banding in the background, which could have been cleaned up in post, but a minor complaint. A fanstastic portrait otherwise.

I like the texture of the skin around the eyes and the nice close crop. The narrow DOF works ok since the close eye and enough of the face is in sharp focus. The pose is good and the stare across the shot through the negative space works well. My only suggestion would be to decrease the jpg compression (pushing file size up to 150k) so that the shades fade smoothly in the background greys just to the left of your right eye.

The stark contrast is good. Ther busy pattern of the surface is a bit distracting. I think I'd like to have the glass not "chopped off" by the square plates. At least you "got it" and this is a true still life.
