Hi, the title of the image "Shape of the Nation" suggest me that the stars(and the stripes) are the geometry that you paint. there are some elements in this shot that is interesting to notice. I like the composition and the point of view, good use of the DOF. With this image you play on the DOF, the composition and the patriotism (I think that if was possible to read your comment during the votation the rating was higher but can you explain me what means UVa?): It's evident the emotive content of the image but don't work for a contest where the title is geometry.

Great job! A very clear shot, with beautiful reflection and sun cast. However, a water shot, or even a shoreline shot, does not always mean 'beach' in my opinion. And meeting the challenge, to me, is the first and most important thing, if that isn't done, then anything else is unimportant. Doesn't mean it's not a beautiful and creative shot, because in this case, it absolutely is! I do love it! I went back and forth on how to score your pic, but I do vote low for those that I don't think meet the challenge, so to be consistant, I am voting this lower than I want for the reasons stated above.

Nice sharp capture. I think it may have been better to show the complete reflection in the water instead of a headless bird.

I would have liked to see the mirror in the water, and the eyes look a bit soft, hard to tell since they are so tiny
