Old Wars, New Loveby GeorgeComment by Blackbox: Kind of Voyeuristic which is a little creepy to me. The architecture of the building and your crop is very good as well as the focus. To me, the photo seems slightly dark. It's always hard to judge why because we can't see your camera settings until after the challenge is over. It may also be something you may have done in photoshop. Or, it may just be my monitor! Anyway, for the challenge I'll give your photo an 8. |

Hangin' by a Threadby GeorgeComment by MelonMusketeer: For this subject, the flash does give it a lot of contrast, and highlights the details of the spider. The empty dark BG also helps to make it stand out with no distractions. I also see the faint lines of the web in the corner, which is just enough to give it some setting.
If you want to use flash on subjects that are very close to the camera and not have such a strong single point lighting, try cutting a styrofoam cup to cover your flash and diffuse the light. Even a piece of white paper works pretty good for that.
You have been on DPC a long time. It's good to see you getting involved more. |

Hangin' by a Threadby GeorgeComment by JerseyGenie: Gorgeous close up. I think the lighting was fantastic and the detail really stand out. I like the glimpses of the web that just peek out of the darkness. |

Hangin' by a Threadby GeorgeComment by salmiakki: Ooh, another spider. The last picture I looked at was also a spider. This is very effective against the black background. |

Hangin' by a Threadby GeorgeComment by ordinaryangel: Nicely done. I love how much she stands out. I teach kindergarten and seeing the face framed by the long pincers reminds me of a game of "peek-a-boo" |
