Digital Photographby DigiPiqueComment by emorgan49: Why the finger? Without it the photo is rather interesting because the scale is unclear, could be a huge flooring or something small. |

Candles in the Windby DigiPiqueComment by DigiPique: Thank you to all who commented - and to voters. This was indeed intended to be a symbolic representation of the events commemorated that week. I was not able to set up an indoor studio under controlled conditions, so I had to use my deck. I would have preferred less wind. Timing was tough. I agree it would have been better with more smoke. The white specks are reflections of the flash from distant wet leaves - they were unintentional and unavoidable, and yet they might also be viewed as symbolic. |

Candles in the Windby DigiPiqueComment by Gracious: This is interesting. My first impression was the twin towers. Funny how our conciousness changes because of an event. It was a good choice to do b & w imo. The image could use a little snappier focus, perhaps using a sharpening tool in a photo editing program. The smoke is a nice touch. The obvious would have been to leave them burning and show the flame. But you chose a nice, unique approach by using the smoke. I recently tried a picture using smoke, and mine wasn't very effective. You did a good job. It meets the challenge for neg space too. The few spots are distracting and make me wonder what they are. Good luck in the challenge! Grayce aka Gracious |
