There is a lot of pixelation happening in this image - I think perhaps it is exaggerated by the busy-ness of the leaves/foliage/grass. The shadows have become a very small part of this composition, and if I did not know the challenge topic, I might not have noticed them at all. Yes - there are definitely shadows, but in terms of fulfilling a topic, voters might feel that your image doesn't "scream" shadows - in other words, a bit subtle. It is a lovely composition and I like the way the main tree fills the bottom left quadrant.

I think this shot is a bit busy, the foreground tree and all the background trees blend together because of the similar texture and colours. Perhaps if you brought in a little more of the foreground and background and took the shot from a lower angle to make the backdrop of the tree the more distant hill it would have helped.
