The reason it was so dark was that I was trying to get the tiny lines in the petals, but I think if I̢۪d given that up and just brightened it as you did, it would̢۪ve indeed scored better. I̢۪m still not quite used to Photoshop Elements but I̢۪m getting there. :). I also think the key is to preview the entry somewhere other than only my laptop.

Just to give you an idea of what I meant by the underexposure. I gave your image a 4. With some adjustments it was easily a 6 or 7.

I really think this was a great idea, just not 100% executed. It feels substantially underexposed IMO. Again, that's my opinion. Some may like this darker look for a more mysterious, subtle approach perhaps. Good luck in the challenge.
