Sound and Visionby amberComment by Matthew: Is this the work of a sound engineer?
Very nice tones and texture - contrast in the grille is handled very well. High contrast works well in b&w. Contrast between edge of frame and image looks fractionally soft on my screen - could be result of high contrast on lcd, rather than the image. I like this a lot. |

Communal Insomniaby amberComment by ubique: That's very good. Unlike so many of the other good photographs of night scenes, this one has a very clever & effective challenge-related point to it. You & your TV set have just enough fellow insomniacs to make that point very well. 8 |

Shoebill...What Shoebill? I haven't bought a pair in months!by amberComment by dahkota: how would you like to go through life like that?! Sorry - I saw this image and had to comment. Its like Jimmy Durante's nose on steroids! My god what an ugly bird. One of those so ugly its cute in a weird sort of way. I had to look it up. Poor bird! Anyway. You got my attention. Unique in all of challenge. Focus, crop, colors all excellent. Honestly, the only thing I really find lacking is POV which hurts your composition. I am taking into consideration that this is NOT a posed studio shot (maybe zoo but they're still wild animals) and you can't control the situation. Lighting is great. The emotional impact outweighs the pov for me in this case. 9 - good luck in the challenge! |

Communal Insomniaby amberComment by Artifacts: People have always had unquenchable curiosity about what people do in the privacy of their own homes at night. This image gives the viewer plenty to look at and think about. It is a good idea for this challenge.
Tones are generally OK but this image still needs a solid black point. Message edited by author 2005-06-27 14:53:11. |
