pixielandComment by fotodude: this is a great shot just 2 things-
*there is just a bit to much shoulder in the frame, it give this strange apperence of the model being turned with his head correcting the turn...just looks slightly unnatural.
*the gaussain blur is a great way to take the focus off the back round and put it on the model however....u r comming so close to the model in spots that it is giving parts of him a halo...the biggest of thses is above his shoulder.
corrections-
have him pull shoulder back just a tad (if u want to keep the framing the way it is (with the shoulder) that will help it appear more natural.
*i don''t know if u have PS but if u do how r u out lining the person? fethering radious?no?...those thing can affect how close the blur comes to the body of the subject...no matter what the photo is of.
i would say without throwing a bunch of PS talk at u, just shoot with a lower ap. like around f4.5 or f4 this will cut down on the DoF that the image has and most likly put your backround out of focus.
if u don't have a dslr or a manual function just pop it in portrait mode and it should low the f stop for u.
otherwise this is about as good as most pros. portraits that i've seen and i think that this is prob. the best in your portfolio 2nd best is the blounde gal whering the white hat.
GL in you future shooting
great shot (once again)
