Jeff- the unusual and barren setting for this very unique tree creates feelings of sadness and also hopefulness. The lights help create that hopeful feeling but the door creates an exit the viewer may wish to take. Congrats on creating a very strong compositional and dynamic image.

Thanks for all the kind comments. Most of the effort that went into this photo was to make the geometry of the shapes interesting and balanced and to get the light and shadows working together with this odd little tree.

I bought this tree for Christmas because it reminded me of the little wreck of a tree that Charlie Brown had in his Christmas TV special so long ago. As odd as it is, I liked it better than the traditional tree that was also set up in my home (go figure). So I get the "odd duck" comment about this photo. To me, the photo is all about the shapes, lighting, and the oddity of the tree.

Amazing how this captures my eye. I don't want to like it, but I do - very much. This looks a lot like what we might see set up in a modern art museum gallery to display an artistic comment on cultural elements of the season. Well crafted, well done overall, unexpected, and very much a work of art. Ten, and best wishes for a high score overall.
