Composition/subject - This may sound weird, but it looks a little cramped for being an empty room shot. I think the statue needed to be a little further out into the room, and further away from the corner. It seems a little "top heavy" as it is shot now.

Technical - I really like the quality of light used and I like the monochromatic color scheme. This does limit the contrast you can get, though.

Meets challenge - Pretty much, but as I've noted above, you might have needed to show a bit more "empty room".

My opinion - Like the color scheme and the light, but the composition needs a bit of work.

Composition
I like the composition with the wine glass in the top right and the bottle acroos at an angel, but it seems a tad unbalanced - maybe composing it so you could crop tighter on the left, or just not cropping so tight on the right may have helped

Technical stuff (exposure, dof,

lighting etcâ€Â¦)

I love how you've captured the glow on both the bottle and liquid in the glass, but the glass seems to have blown highlights. Also, I'm not sure I like how the bottle merges into the black b/g. I guess it was hard to get an even exposure with the single spotlight.
Focus is crisp

Meeting the challenge
Nice still life, fitting th challenge well.

Post-processing
Only thing I'd suggest changing is masking the red bottle top when you applied NeatImage, it just seems a bit too smooth/plastic-ey

My personal opinion
Ironic but the single light source limited the potential imho - could have been much better lit with a moving source, so you didnt get the extremes of lighting. I think the score was reasonably fair (although I wouldn't be particularly surprised if it had been higher)

Composition/subject
Excellent composition! I especially like that you chose to work from the upper left down into the picture.
Technical
I LOVE the lighting! I particularly like how the bottle pratically disappears in parts, the "blown" bit of the glass where the edge disappears (yes, I do like "blown" bits in pictures sometimes), and the red and it's just-barely-there reflection.
Meets challenge
Definitely meets challenge, and then some.
My opinion
I really like this alot - probably my favorite of yours I've critiqued thus far, and in my humble not-all-that-photographically-educated opinion, this deserved a much higher score.

hello again,

i didnt like the bright white on the rim of the glass. i was hoping for more of those subtle tones on both the glass and the bottle. i know it is overdone.....but.

with that, i love the composition. cropping the glass and bottle with the positions they hold is great. the colors work really well together to form a pleasing image.

I like the tone of your photograph and the lighting is good. Your crop of the room is to tight, IMO, not giving me the sense of an empty room. It's like I could look to the left or right and see a sofa or chair. The Corner of the room (vertical line) is stronger to me than the subject. I find my eyes homing in on the line.

I don't know if you were able to, but I feel the statue would of been better placed in the corner covering up the most of the corner line and then doing some burn to take down the highlights on the line above the statue. And maybe a little more sharpness on the statue would of helped.

With all that said I feel your photograph is good and with a few adjustments could of been better. I feel you did meet the challenge even though the crop is tight. Keep up the good work and I wish you well in the challenge. 5

Camera Work/Technical: No offense to any of your previous, but this your best technical shot, in my opinion. I like the crisp focus and the amazing detail you captured. The neat image was just a hair too much, giving some pixel distortion to parts of the wine bottle.

Lighting: I like it, but it's just a hair too harsh. Nice idea, and I think toning it down just a bit would have helped. The one area of the wine glass is too exposed. Outside of that, this is a fantastic capture.

Composition/Content: Really nice. The tight crop and composition that you created works very, very well for this subject. The wine bottle serves well to draw the eye in and up to the glass.

My Opinion: Your score suffered because of so many fantastic entries into this free-study type challenge. This is a terrific shot that would have scored much better had there not been so many other fantastic entries to compete against.

Trading Post - I didnt vote in this challnege but would have given this a 6 I believe. My biggest complaint would be the intense brightness on the glass. The post processing may be a bit overdone but it has a cool effect overall. I liek the smoothness of the bottle and the light reflection of the neck adds a nice touch. AS well as the sunburst onthe base of the glass. I also like the setup and crop. An interesting shot and not a bad score overall. Good job.
