AWESOME! Lovely contrast of darks and lights. It strongly conveys the childhood curiosities we all had. The only thing I'm not to keen about are the light bits in the grass but that's trivial. 10 and a fave!

I live in the Pacific Northwest (USA) and this is the way I feel every time we see the sun in the winter. Terrific!

OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for the Mu (most underrated) award:

Positives: So many great elements here - the interesting shape of the silhouette, the sharp flowers, the dramatic sky, the wonderful sun and even the contrail / cirrus strip.

Critical stuff: I'm not sure whether I like the small highlights in the foreground but I suspect this is a good call and that pure block black here wouldn't look as good.

Overall: This is an image that gets better and better the longer I look at it and it was pretty good to begin with. 10 and a fav.

lift the hills just a trifle higher in the image? or perhaps shrink the image to cut out the extra space, perhaps shorter than the plane, to make this image stronger, I think.

Superb early morning shot oozing tranquility and beauty. Lovely shades of gray in the hills combine magnificently with the yellows and oranges in the sky. 9

This reminds me of where I had my best vacation ever: Bristol, Tennessee. But, it's probably not. Anyway, the photo is awesome to me. A great Landscape. 10
