Texas Little League Fastballby pmessinaComment by ShutterPug: ** Greetings from the Critique Club **
First of all, good action shot that fits the challenge theme.
There are a few major problems though. First of all the colors are not very vivid - a boost in saturation can corerect this. Secondly, your white balance needed to be adjusted to compensate for the strong lighting you were under - namely direct overhead sunlight. Thirdly, the focus was off - leaving the image in it's entirety a bit soft.
I agree with some of yopur other commenters, the depth of field had it been more narrow would have blurred out the background people which are very distracting from the star of this shot.
As for the composition, very nice. Your image fits into the rule of thirds, and in my eye is cropped just right - not to close or too wide.

Texas Little League Fastballby pmessinaComment by macrothing: 8 - Good action and intensity capture. Criticism; more focus, enhanced colors, more background blur. For me, the folks in the background (including their lack of attention) detract too much from the 'star'. |

Texas Little League Fastballby pmessinaComment by outland: I like the framing and the subject looks sharp. You might consider using a narrower depth of field to blur the background. More contrast would help, too. Slight overexposure can lend that washed out look, I think. |
