*** Greetings from the Critique Club ***

hrmm...nice idea. I think that if you put some more thought into overall composition, other things will fall into place. I'm sure this flower was beautiful and delicate in person but we just didn't convey that properly to the viewer as an end result.

Like I said, think a lot about composition...where do you want your viewer to look, what do you want them to focus on? Leave enough space around the subject to create a pleasing "atmosphere" for your flower to sit in.

Look around at previous challenges and through the internet at photos in general. Look at the ones that stand out to you and ask yourself what about it makes you like it? Pay attention, and learn from what you see...and listen to yourself. Then try to put that toward your next creative photographic endeavor.

As you get better with composition, you will notice yourself starting to pay closer attention to the finer details that will take your shot from the ordinary to the extraordinary...such as lighting and shade and depth of field...you've got a great eye, so definately keep shooting and remember to pay attention to what you like about another shot. Good luck.

This would have been impressive in the Personification chhallenge.
Looking at it in the current challenge leaves me wanting more. Context is important.

I love the lighting on the leaf but the flower is way too dark.

This just doesn't work for me, sorry. The high key attempt hurts my eyes.

the detail on the leaf is good, but the rose looks too dark and lacks detail.. I would have gone only with the leaf.. as a composition might have been stronger. the dark rose attracts the attention away from the delicate leaf..

I think this is a dried rose or flower of some sort - but it's a little too dark for me to be certain, the leaf at the bottom does look very delicate and has really good focus - if you were intending for the bottom leaf to be the stronger subject in the over all pic then - good job!

the rose is very pretty. it appears to be a little out of focus though, so maybe if u had used the unsharpen tool it would've been a little nicer? but nevertheless good job!

you could use a white card to bounce some light onto dark side of glass.

May have have worked better with a different arrangement. Perhaps a solid colored towl, a clear glass, and better lighting.

I like the "Four Cornerness" of this image. I think a clear glass would have helped the image instead of this tinted one, but I like the texture of the fabric.
