Thank you all for your very helpfull and nice comments. I wish I could have shared some of this ice cream with you all.
Indeed the prime focus is on the bucket. I was just playing around with a diafragma of F/1.4 which is quite unforgiving. By the time I saw the picture on the screen, the ice cream was already all scooped away, and there was no second chance.
My first picture getting a score over 5, which was my short term goal. Although not a spectacular progress, I am quite happy there is progress. I guess I will have to invest a bit more time in the future trying to keep up this level or preferably to improve.

My only issue with this is that the ice cream didn't get the main focus.. the edge of the container did. Otherwise I like it.

Good texture, and nice use of DOF to put the focus on the ice cream. Unfortunately, a blob of ice cream isn't exactly the most photogenic subject in the world. Children hovering over the machine, mixing the ingredients or holding cones in anticipation might have made a more interesting photo IMO.

Homemade ice cream looks good. A nice picture, although I would've liked the ice cream more in focus. But I like how you include other things (like the hand) besides JUST the ice cream.
