Checkmateby analogcerealComment by justine: This is very nicely done. I'd only change one little thing......move over to the right a bit...I guess it just bothers me the center piece is centered with the window division. Is that too stupid? I do like this and one of the most eye catching features is the reflection on the table. Justine |

Checkmateby analogcerealComment by tjuneau13: The bright light in the window is a shame. Otherwise I like the shot - but I wonder if you could have changed the coloring a bit to give the pieces more of a blue look? |

Checkmateby analogcerealComment by undieyatch: i like the chess men a lot...... the near sand blasted men at first appeared slightly out of focus....... but i think that is just the nature of thier physical texture. The far clear men appear to be in focus. Actually the visual components of the picture are, all in focus - this is a very neat trick using the chess men to create an illusion of near field soft focus. This is a picture to be utilized in understanding depth of field and optical illusion. I love this photograph. It teaches, it is visually elegant. I will be looking at this one for a long time. undieyatch |

Checkmateby analogcerealComment by Simms: hmmm, ok, this is a great depth of field photo.. I love the frosted pieces in the foreground contrasting the clear pieces behind.. BUT... not quite enough blue, I wont go as far as saying it doesn't meet the challenge, but its defintely borderline... 6 marksimms |

Checkmateby analogcerealComment by Wes: It looks like a fresh board to me... A different set up of the board would have been more conviencing of "check mate" which could make me feel blue... Though overall this picture doesn't seem to fit this challenge well. |

Checkmateby analogcerealComment by RiderGal: There are a few things I don't like about this photo... 1) while checkmate does make you blue, it's not clear who's doing the checkmating and also, the pieces are not in position to checkmate, which makes it seem as if you put a title on a picture 2) The light coming in at the top left distracts my eyes... which is not a good thing. 3) The background is bothersome. Things I like 1) the blueish tint to the pieces which helps the photo 2) the focus 3) imagination! Good luck! |
