::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

Just a note when I do a critique, I go past just the photographic result, that's what voters comments do. The critique looks at what you were trying to achieve, how you wanted it to look and what issues you had in getting the image captured and ready for voting - somtimes it is nice for these details also to be included in the photographers comments.

First Impression - the most important one:
Using what you got did you good!

Composition:
I really like this composition - It has really strong lines .. and good colours in it.

Subject:
Only partially meets the challenge - bi-focals I am not sure these are ... this has been reised by others who commented and may have affected your score - although not greatly I think .. but just a small details helps to improve things.

Technical (Colour and light):
I really like the lighting and the colour is fantastic ... this is a sexy shot!

To grow its vote?:
Using the right stuff (if these are I apologise) - a little rotation may have have helped ... I think to the left .. to make the shot standing not look like it is on an angle.

Summary:
Great shot ... good shooting.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.

Cheers

Kari

I like this concept. Another person had a similar photo, but it didn't work because the color was too distracting. This works in B&W. Great job.

too many confusing shapes - this image is very difficult to read. reduce the clutter, pare down to the essentials and get rid of everything else. what is the bare minimum you need to communicate your message?

good use of black and white - nothing that really makes it spectacular, but good angles on the shoes, nice looking shoes too - barely worn. :-)

Comment by fotodude:
a little too contrasty for my tast would've liked to see a more diverse grayscale, with less "hot spots".
