WOW!!! It's hard to feel desolate when feasting on that stunning beauty. I love this! Professional photography in every way. I love the effect of the long shutter speed on those waves contrasting that aqua water. Desolate? but rich in colour, contrast and tone. It defies the definition but is desolate. Not the sort of desolate one gets in Brooklyn where canals are so polluted they catch on fire. Brooklyn has both desolation of colour, of spirit, and even evokes that feeling. However, I think the accuracy of the feeling your photo depicts is applicable.
