Oh. I knew I read 'something' about 3 versions .. never mind. You'll just have to go back and wait for him/her again. Lesson learned I guess - better to shoot in color and convert to b&w in pp - can't do the reverse. Thank you for the information/reply. |

Whoooo me?by shes_troubleComment by shes_trouble: Hi Macro...
The E-500 does not take 3 different photos (unless you're using braketing) that would only under expose and over expose -/+3 the shots.
I wish it did that! |

Not sure on the E500, and may well be too late now (wiped memory card) - but, doesn't the camera take 3 versions of the same shot? - just wondering if one might be a color.. not sure. |

Whoooo me?by shes_troubleComment by shes_trouble: Ahhh! Thanks to everyone for the comments and votes. I must tell you, embarrassingly enough... this photo was taken through the dirty windshield of my car. I first flew by him going aprox 90 km/hr. At first I thought it was a hawk because we have plenty of them around. When I passed by him I realized his face was flat and those stripes! AMAZING! So I had to litterally slam on the brakes and throw it into reverse to go back to him. As you can see, he was just as curious as I was!

The catchlights in his eyes are from my headlights (LOL) it was dusk at this point. After shooting this photo I attempted to exit the car - but he flew away.
As for cropping... it works too. When I sent him out to my friends the next morning I did have the right side cropped. Being the rebel I am... I decided to throw out the rule of thirds for this one! He is, "the centre of attention"......
I'm completely hooked now... I MUST GET OUT AND FIND ANOTHER!
Thanks again =) |

Whoooo me?by shes_troubleComment by v5planet: I disagree with the comment about this being too-centered. Where the owl is emphasizes the feeling of surprise implied by the title and the owl's expression. I don't think it would've worked if it had been anywhere else.
Lovely photo... |

Whoooo me?by shes_troubleComment by RKT: Oh! I really like this...the owl's stare really draws you in...I also like the fact that the owl is centered in the image...for me it works...this is just a really nice image. |

Whoooo me?by shes_troubleComment by macrothing: 9 - Very nice. Toning works well. Good composition. Criticism; mainly just wish the owl 'popped' more, but difficult, especially with the toning/contrast. Perhaps a more finely tuned crop on the right, not sure, works well as is. Up to 9 from 8. |

Whoooo me?by shes_troubleComment by glad2badad: Very cool capture, getting this owl out in the open like this! Wonderful camouflage it has. Nice focus and clarity. Didn't oversharpen. Looks like a glint of light in the eyes...did you use fill-in flash? Just curious. Only nitpick is the centering of the subject but it's not costing you anything in scoring points from me. One of my top 3 picks.
Good luck in the challenge. ;^) |
