An image with some aspects of artistic success, but some significant flaws from a technical standpoint. It would have been better to concentrate on the sweeping curve and provide more detail of that particularly interesting area. Under proper control, the DOF would have helped rather than hurt this effort and made is a solid contender for top placement in the challenge.

This picture did what I expected. I knew that I was riding the line on the DNMC, but I thought what the heck. Those that appreciate the image and gave creative feedback, I appreciate it and will take it to heart as I am way more novice than an amateur, so I will be learning and coming back with a vengeance.

I think that all the comments regarding "I wish there were fire in this one". Be a little more creative people! What is the sun but a giant FIREball. The best way put so far was if it fails - it fails with grace. After seeing the results - I see why the winners won - but I for one think this meets the challenge in an abstract non-cut-and-dry sense.
