Comment by JH:
Focus looks off, which is a pity as I think this is quite an imaginative composition.

it's unfortunate that his face was out of focus. :(

Comment by Prism:
perhaps a closer crop to move him off centre would have helped this composition. He does look very busy concentrating on that puzzle!

Comment by rachelellen:
the shadows over his work are a bummer, but the look of concentration on his face is excellent.

I think this would have been better had he been at the edge of the photo and more of the puzzle showing.

Cute! I wish he had some buddies around him trying to help with the puzzle - that might have made the picture a little busier. :-)
what's the problem?

CRITQUE CLUB**
I love the concept of this one, the lighting is very very nice as well! good job, the rim of light on the back of the neck gives it a nice feel.
since I notice you also have a D70s I think this shot could have come out a bit crisper than it is now perhaps setting your fstop higher and your shutter slower on a tripod would help with but i dont see why it came out like this on the settings you posted. perhaps you saved the jpeg as very low quality, heres a tip for saving on the website with losing minimal quality.
on photoshop (if thats the program i believe you used) press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+S or simply click on file-save for web and make sure you save between 75-90% for a crisp jpeg on the internet.

what i think would make this picture even more dramatic is that i think if you didnt black out the edges of his face as hard as you did and have it fade it smoother it would make this an even nicer composition. over all the idea is great.
