No Where To Goby DonkerDinkComment by Kemptonreporter: I like what you were trying to do with this one.
I am a big fan of narrow dof, but in this case, having lost focus on the pieces in the foreground, you've over-exposed the piece in the background, and left the viewer with nothing much to focus on, if you'll pardon the pun.
The remaining highlights in this image (white squares and black piece light reflections) are too dark, and too close to the shadow levels to provide any real contrast or "pop", to the photo.
So, in all, it comes across as flat with no real attention grabber.
It was a well thought out idea lacking some technical finishing.

No Where To Goby DonkerDinkComment by atupdate: The out of focus King almost made me miss that it was in checkmate. The distance between the White Queen and the Black King, along with the emphasis created by the lighting doesn't sell the "No where to go" concept. Nice attempt but falling just a tad short. 5 |
