Waiting in Silenceby f-32Comment by gingerbaker: I have used snowy orchards for challenges myself!
I love the way you have used B&W, the starkness of the bark against the snow, and all the glorious gradations of gray, and the long perspective.
I like this picture a lot, but I think it can be improved because it "leans" to the right, I think.
The eye goes down the row, then has nowhere to go but slip off the right margin because of the pressure from the mountain. If the mountain were centered, or there was another object to carry the eye back to the mountain, the symmetry of the scene would be a bit better.
A beautiful shot, nontheless. |

Waiting in Silenceby f-32Comment by boomer: Nice, nice, nice! Soft, quiet, absolutely still. Not sure who's waiting -- the trees? for Spring? Ah... that's got to be it. Can't exactly say why, but the sky bothers me. Can't suggest what you could have done differently, however. Anyway, very good image. 7 |

Waiting in Silenceby f-32Comment by gpierson: this is such a great statement--an orchard in winter-no friut-no blooms...Dormant. I like how you balanced the image with the mountain area in left corner & clouds in right. |

Waiting in Silenceby f-32Comment by steventhewriter: Beautiful photograph. One of my top picks. I only wish there wasn't a downed tree in the bottom left corner, although I suppose that sort of the thing is unavoidable. I suppose some might criticize you for the blank space above the trees, but I think it adds a lot of perspective. Congratulations on a great shot. |
