The B&W is good, the composition is good, the notebook is not good, neither the pen (a feather might have done the trick better). I don't like how spherical the cleched paper looks. I guess adding a figure of Guenevere and Lancelote (or, even better: Don Quixote) might have helped. Maybe...

I saw that a lot of people considered this shot a bit off-topic.
As I usually do, my approach started opening the dictionary and for the word Romance I got:
====- romance -===============================================
n. love affair, amour; tall tale, tale filled with exaggeration; narrative or poem about chivalry and/or heroic adventures (esp. from the Middle Ages)
v. have a love affair with; tell stories filled with exaggeration, tell tall tales
================================================================
So I tried to represent the creation process of a Romance and as bakerb72 said maybe it should have been "Romance lacking inspiration" :)

However, the image looks too much like homework to me, which, while representing the unromantic, is not inspiring. Maybe I'm just missing something, or misinterpreting your title.
