Shallow dof works well to keep me on the nose which is your intent so well done there. The crop on the bottom cuts out a lot of texture though with that purple blanket so maybe a little less cut from the bottom would be better. It would also alleviate a bit of the tension caused by the muzzle at the bottom of the shot. Kind of give it room to breathe.... lol

This photo really doesn't work for me. I know you were trying to get a shot of the texture on the nose but it feels like you needed to zoom in about two or three times more or zoom out to get more of the dog in view(then you might loose out on the texture part). It feels like the crop is in between the two points where it should be.

A solid entry into the challenge, it meets the criteria in a different and unique way. From a technical standpoint, the image is a more than adequate
with a few minor issues that are not worth mentioning. The artistic impact is rather bland and uninteresting, but the offset viewpoint is a plus. A little more time taken with composition would have given the author a better score.

A difficult shot to pull off. A couple of things may have given better impact to your photo: A pass of "sharpening", and perhaps convert to B&W.
