Week 2: Back Bayby tinky2Comment by PGerst: What is really neat in this photo is that you have captured a vanishing point. I'd exploit that. You clearly have fore, mid, and background elements to this photo. The fore being the boats, mid being the water and island on the left, and back being the mountain range in the back.
Pull down the contrast to darken the sky (you could do a multiply of the same image. Then add a ND gradient for the mask.
Add contrast to the boats with curves and reverse the same mask.
Finally, crop it horizontally to bring out the sense of depth in the photo.
Something like that.
You could also try a BW conversion through a monochrome channel mix, or even a duotone version. Message edited by author 2009-01-11 11:49:59. |

Week 2: Back Bayby tinky2Comment by Kelli: I'd crop off some of the sky, try to bring out some contrast and direct attention to the boats. This is so pretty and pastel, maybe go a little painterly. |

Week 1: Steppin' Outby tinky2Comment by bvy: This is good as is. Converted well, it might also make a good black and white. Lots of great textures here... Message edited by author 2009-01-10 13:09:04. |

Guarding the Sunsetby tinky2Comment by Lydia: This is beautiful. Perhaps with a bit of burning on the bird this would have scored more highly. In any case, I really like it. Well done. |

Week 1: Steppin' Outby tinky2Comment by colorcarnival: This is a beautiful picture. You lost some vibrancy of the bird in the other shot. How about just do the cloning out here and leave it all be? The original tho is quite spectacular. |
