Calmedby ryandComment by jdannels: you have a great landscape eye and timing for getting nice light. This has a very peaceful zen quality. |

Frozen Reflectionsby ryandComment by jdannels: the reflection is so smooth it almost looks like it is a duplicate of the toped and flipped. :) very smooth. |

DSC_1422by ryandComment by jdannels: I agree with Mr. Carter, everything is there but the focus is just a little off. |

DSC_1339by ryandComment by jdannels: I like the depth of field and one of your stronger portraits. Just be careful of the background and things coming in and out of the models head like branches. :) |

Eye to Eyeby ryandComment by jdannels: what a great first entry! I think if you had rotated it a smidge to straighten the eyes to the horizon it would have broke 6. :) |

Captivatingby ryandComment by jdannels: I think this is a good portrait and I don't mind the feet. I think getting closer would have helped, or had her stand a few feet from the wall. I notice when that close to the background it is hard to get any separation and models seem to blend. Also I don't think the lighting is that harsh although some of her face has strong shadows. What I use is a piece of foamcore covered in aluminum foil. If you put this just out of the frame on the right, it would bounce some light onto her face and soften the shadows. That lens you used is great for portraits, dont be afraid to get close and use a large aperture like 2.0 or less, :) Personally I think this should have scored higher. :) |

Eagle Eyesby ryandComment by jdannels: this is excellent, the spot on focus at the eye is great, and thats a pretty steady hand to hold that lens still :) |
