Voters here at DPC will ding you, I fear, for the gravel (?) in upper left. Perhaps a different background altogether would give you a higher score for this. It, especially with the grass, seems a bit busy and competes with the subjects. Not voting.

Dude was wasted, but alas not with alcohol! I just always look better behind the camera rather than in front of it. I quip to friends all the time that I look better on paper than in person.

After the first few scores came in I realized that my evening would been better spent getting wasted on cold medicine with an early bed time. Dude,...IS RIGHT!!!!!!! :/

Good idea and well done!
The blunt pencils being subject is well in focus, while the work is lightly blurred.
The angle of pencils and draker colored background draws you to negitive space between to two,at the bluntpoint of the pencils.

Just one little tiny white space above the right side of the image is a minor flaw in an otherwise moody and purposeful image. The color is a very interesting shade of blue that one doesn't often see - a kind of Williamsburg Blue and some of the slight color changes are very effective. A good solid entry into the challenge.

A technical success, it's less than successful in an artistic sense. DOF control is on the edge of being good and the lighting isn't over done creating blooms. The subject is less than interesting. Perhaps a different background with a slightly different angle would have helped. A little more thought and better framing would have brought the rating higher.
