Apples 'n Orangesby tapeworm_jimmyComment by Citadel: The lighting really doesn't work for me. If it weren't for the title I wouldn't have known there was an orange in the shot. Interesting idea with the apple by the way. |

S.P.Q.R.by tapeworm_jimmyComment by hotpasta: I hate to tell you this, but this woman is possibly a professional beggar. She is probably quite well off and sharfes her dividends with others in her troup. I have been to Rome many times and am of Italian descent and have spoken to my relatives many times and am told, bands of gypsies have expensive villas on the coast and use their children and elderly to gain funds. You see these people all over Rome. One such person was using a pin to torture her child under a blanket.
I was in Rome a year ago, but in my 2002 visit, I photographed what looks like this same woman near the Coloseum...will try and upload the shot when I can |

Toxic Wasteby tapeworm_jimmyComment by talj: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Composition:
First of all I like the idea, certainly unusual! I am not so keen on the slight lean the glass has or the fact it is almost touching the border on the right handside. Although centrally placing subjects is mostly a no no I think this would have worked well if it had been straight and in the middle of the frame. I have to agree with some of your commenters that the brightness of the green in the border is very distracting and does not help the overall look of the image.
Technicals:
I like your use of DOF here as it helps draw the viewer to the 'goop' on the top of the glass. The lighting does seem a little harsh and there are a few patches that appear a little blown out.
My personal thought:
Taking a little extra care with your composition and lighting would have given you a few extra points here IMHO
If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.
