5th Gearby kiiliminComment by kiilimin: Yeah the driver has his front right tyre locked... if you look really closely you can see that he is turning slightly to the right already (next corner is a 90degree right) so the weight is transferred off the front right and thus that is the first one to lock. The car is still travelling at over 100kph at this point. The driver did not hit any walls, just went a bit wide at the apex of the corner.
Like many mentioned my major gripe was having the car too near the top of the frame. Cutting off the back of the car is intentional because the back end makes it look really girlie. In this picture it would've worked though because the rear wheel would've been spinning and you could've seen the smoke moving around it... next frame had both wheels but crap sharpness.... but these were the only two frames of a car with it's tyre properly locked after 3 days of shooting. I had lots of really cool panned shots but figured that the locked tyre adds a lot, and i think i was right.
For those wondering about the title - i had submitted a different pic originally and my slugish internet connection resulted in the title not being updated to reflect the current image. Message edited by author 2006-02-17 06:14:19. |

5th Gearby kiiliminComment by reevey: Woah. That is one helluva capture, especially to get the whell so still - was he braking? Congratulations on 4th, so close to a ribbon! |

5th Gearby kiiliminComment by MPRPRO: This is such a great shot, you can see the driver's eyes in this and you can see he is locking up his wheels, isn't it great that the Michelin logo is right on top too? You couldn't have planed that. Very good, excellent. You should win this challenge. |

5th Gearby kiiliminComment by Southpaw: Cool image. A slight motion on the wheels would make it more effective (for me) though. Edit: Of course, he's braking! I didn't even think about it. Doh! If I'd realized that I'd have given you a 10 instead of 9. Really an excellent capture! Message edited by author 2006-02-15 02:50:34. |
