Making this a minimalist composition is a nice idea. Centering the heirloom on one of the rule of thirds intersection points may have made the image more interesting to the viewer's eye. It also appears to have a yellowish color cast that could be corrected in post processing. I can see some detail toward the upper lef of the image. That is distracting to most viewers.

A different crop would take out the slightly lighter bits at the top, make it less static and let us see more of the beautiful detail in the piece.

Actually, the necklace is a really good object for trying low key. The intricate shapes could be really stunning with the right light. Try looking at it in different natural light situations beside a window under cloudy conditions and sunny conditions. How does the light emphasize the shape? Hope you try some more compositions with it.

Sorry but there is just entirely too much dead spaces in this photo and having the item centered right in the fram is pretty boring, static composition. Nice job of exposure though.
