Shadowby LGalM077Comment by brownsm: I like the lighting. Not sure of the body art? Looks forced. Like trying to elicit a negative initial response. In my opinion, it distracts. would have worked better without the decorations, allowing the contrast of shadow and light to be the focus. |

Shadowby LGalM077Comment by posthumous: the creativity of this shot is undermined by the makeup... allow me to explain. The make-up says to the viewer "I want you to like me, I want you to think I look pretty." The make-up is an attempt to be conventional, to be normal, to be accepted, which works against the more interesting and delirious effect of the strange angle, the harsh shadows and the enigmatic symbols.
maybe she's not wearing a lot of makeup... but I think I mean more than just the make-up, it's the whole treatment of her face, her gaze... it ruins the experiment, sort of like explaining the joke, or saying "I'm just experimenting here, you can feel safe."
