Pureby breadfan35Comment by Rgarcia: The left eye however is a tad out of focus, and the arm draws a straight line that makes the image a little bit stiff. Besides that it is a great portrait! |

Pureby breadfan35Comment by NikonJeb: I like this......but I don't like standard portraits. The face is a little washed, and she seems a tad pale, though that may be just her coloration. Nice pensive expression, pretty model. I kind of agree with the arm as a distraction. |

Pureby breadfan35Comment by levyj413: I like the pose. I get so bored with the standard "stare ahead at the camera and smile" look. I didn't vote on this, but probably would've been between 5 and 6. I do think the arm is quite distracting, her back eye isn't quite in focus, and I'd like to see a little more contrast in her face. At the same time, her shirt is too dark - just seems kind of like a black hole below her face. But I'd bet with a little processing, you could make this much better. But 4.9 is crazy.
As always, though, do YOU like it? Does SHE like it? Much more important than a DPC score. :) |

Pureby breadfan35Comment by ace flyman: Portraits are tough in Free Study challenge, It really needs to be creative and stand out. Things I like about the shot is the Dof. The face and eye closest to you is sharp than fades out of focus. The eyes are well done. Dislikes are the lighting on the face is kinda flat with no shadows to give it more of a 3d effect. With all that said its a good portrait and I gave it a 6. ..Ace |

Pureby breadfan35Comment by jaysonmc: I think the overall DoF is terrific. If both eyes would have been in focus I think you would have nailed it. I am not sure about the arm, as you don't get to see the hand. I think seeing the whole hand would have improved the image. However, I still think it is a very stunning shot. The colors are terrific and the engagement of the subject is wonderful. I gave you a six in the challenge.
I think this was the case of the autopilot 5 voting going on with the occasion 4 to bring down the average. A shame. Message edited by author 2008-01-08 20:57:39. |

Pureby breadfan35Comment by trevytrev: I didn't vote but I would have given this a 6. I like the photo but do think the face is a bit bright/washed out and the arm does distract as well. Seems that it could have been a bit sharper or used a bit more DOF. I do like the vignetteing as it really focuses you on her face and her look is nice. |

Pureby breadfan35Comment by BAMartin: I gave this a 5 after looking at it for a long time. The OOF arm that seems to be coming out of her chin was just more that I could handle. That and the fact that she is looking at you from such an uncomfortable angle. |

Pureby breadfan35Comment by puzzled: I like this very much. Really don't understand how it could've received an under 5 score :-( I like the way she's looking at the camera, and that the eye closest to the camera is nice and clear. She has beautiful eyes and a great expression. I didn't vote, but if I had, I think this would've got a 7 from me. |
